The popular Volkswagen Polo Sedan has sold over 44 267 units in Mzansi since 2011 and the new model is now set to redefine the A0 sedan segment.
Exterior Design
Volkswagen have given the new Polo Sedan a distinctive and striking design. The Polo Sedan boasts sharp shoulder lines which exude power and elegance, says the Wolfsburg-based firm. The new model now measures 4 561mm in length, 1 752mm in width and 1 507mm in height.
Standard fitment in the Polo Sedan includes LED headlights and taillights, a signature chrome grille, 16-inch alloy wheels which are only available in the Life trim level and a chrome package which includes chrome window strips and chrome door handles.
Interior Design
Inside, the new Polo Sedan sports a premium two-tone interior, two-tone seat upholstery and premium touch surfaces. Standout features in the Polo Sedan include keyless entry, ambient lighting, Climatronic air-conditioning which is only available in the Life trim level, a multi-functional steering wheel and 521L of boot capacity.
Equipment Lines
The new Polo Sedan is available in three equipment lines, namely: Polo Sedan, Polo Sedan Life & Polo Sedan Life Tiptronic. Each derivative is fully equipped and has no optional features except for a choice of either five exterior colors, namely: solid paint (Candy White) and four metallic colors (Wild Cherry Red, Carbon Steel Grey, Reflex Silver and Rising Blue)
The Polo Sedan features LED headlights and taillights, 16-inch steel wheels, App-Connect, a 7.0-inch touchscreen radio, cruise control and a multi-functional steering wheel as standard.
The Polo Sedan Life features the aforementioned standard features along with keyless entry and start, rear view camera, a 10.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless mobile charging, wireless App-Connect, power adjustable and folding exterior mirrors, climatronic air-conditioning, ambient lighting, leather-wrapped multi-functional steering wheel and gear lever, front fog lamps and cornering lights, chrome package and 16-inch Scimitar alloy wheels.
The range-topping Polo Sedan Life Tiptronic features the afore mentioned standard features along with Hill Start Assist and a leather-wrapped multi-functional steering wheel with shifting paddles.
Engine and Power
One engine is on offer in the Polo Sedan - a 4-cylinder MPI petrol engine paired to either a 5-speed manual transmission or 6-speed Tiptronic transmission. Power and torque are rated at 81kW and 152Nm, respectively. Volkswagen claim a fuel consumption figure of 6.5L/ 100km in the Tiptronic derivative whereas the manual transmission manages 6.2L/ 100km.
