The journey to Clarens as a family with Honda’s range of SUV’s
If you haven’t been yet, you’ve gotta go – says everyone we know when speaking about Clarens. It really is a treasure trove of local beauty made even more ideal by its convenient distance to Johannesburg and Pretoria.
With an enjoyable 3 hour drive through the large expanses of golden fields of the Free State, we were fortunate enough to enjoy the journey sampling an array of new Honda SUV’s.
These kinds of getaways are as much about the journey as they are about the destination. The most direct route might get you to the end-point in the shortest amount of time but will omit the quant localities and pleasant towns along the way. Our pre-arranged route intended to include a stop over in the tourist-hotspot of Parys, which even in the midst of winter was abuzz with GP number plates and hitched trailers.
Between the whole Nwamba family, Richard, Bianca and Raul spent their full journey enjoying the large BR-V and CR-V while Francisco and Alana were behind the wheel of the WR-V and HR-V.
While the range stems from the most affordable compact crossover all the way through to the most premium flagship SUV, all retain the notable reliability and build quality that has become synonymous with the Japanese brand over the generations. Honda first and foremost produces vehicles that instantly become part of households and photobomb images in family albums. They are cars that can do the 9-5 grocery and school runs yet comfortably commence a several hundred kilometer road trip without any hesitation.
Even with unexpected roadworks which had unearthed any semblance of tarred surface, it was still smiles all-round and as the cars confidently strided forward and towards our whimsical evening destination of Clarens. Unfortunately all good things must come to an end and so did our little getaway, but the kilometers travelled will hold steadfast in our memories!
