Audi Updates the A4 for 2021

With refreshed “new era” Audi looks extensive specification and technology upgrades, the A4’s midlife update may spark new life into the brands most popular executive saloon, and bring some doubt to the typical C Class and 3-Series buying decisions.

2021 Audi A4: What’s New?

The A4 gains the new corporate image, design language through the single-frame grill, which gains more definition through sharper more angular lines. The grill is flatter and carried the greatest width than that of before. From the side, the sharp lines have almost been etched into the side of the vehicle and create a sharp yet elegant look.

LED Lighting comes as standard equipment on the facelifted A4, the 35TFSI featuring both Low and High Beam LED lighting. The 40 TFSI & S4 will feature greater enhancements to the same system with dynamic Led indicators in the rear, but still, the updated LED Matrix Lighting is only available via the options list. All models will feature LED daytime running lights. As standard, the A4 will feature 17inch alloys, with larger 18’s available on the Advanced and S-Line trims. Optional 19-inch wheels are available as options but come standard on the S4.

2021 Audi A4: Specs

The key differences to the Audi A4 range are the equipment level and exterior styling packages, with the choice of Standard, Advanced and S line as the range-topper. As a means of simplifying the complex options selection process, the availability of pre-loaded packs is available. Comfort, Technology, Sport and Assistance/City Assistance/Lane Assistance. The 35TFSI is the only model that will feature the optional Lights Package.

2021 Audi A4: Drivetrains

Powering the range will be the choice of two familiar engines, The EA888 2.0Litre turbocharged engine, in two states of tune and the 3.0Litre Turbo TFSI engine for the S4. Both the 35 and 40TFSI will be paired to a 48V Mild Hybrid System, which will aid in reducing fuel consumption by a claimed 0.3Litres/100. The 35 and 45TFSI will be paired to a 7-Speed Automatic transmission driving the front wheels, which the S4 gaining an 8-Speed box and Quattro AWD. The 40TDI model will follow in the first quarter of 2021.

2021 Audi A4: Interior

The key updates will be the move to the 10.1 inch MIB 3 touch display infotainment system, which is more in line with the latest offerings from the Audi range. The System serves as the driver information hub and offers a UI more akin to the modern smartphone. Linked to this system is the MMI touchpad that replaces the conventional rotary/pushbutton control.

With respects to trim levels, the usual availability of synthetic leatherette and optional Nappa Leather. The S Line interior package can be combined at no cost with Embossed Nappa, with Ambient lighting as an option. The option of Audi’s Virtual Cockpit plus 12.3-inch display is available as an option with analogue dials as standard. The optional Audi phone box includes induction-based wireless charging and signal booster, which amplifies phone signal through the vehicles antenna. CarPlay and Android Auto are standard and can be linked to the MMI search voice control, making use of Google Search.The Bang & Olufsen 3D Premium Sound System is available as an option and so too is Nativation through the Technolgy pack.

AUDI CONNECT

The A4 will be the first in the product line to feature Connect and Audi’s My Audi app services. The system makes use of advance infotainment, navigation and vehicle-based App integration. The systems can be accessed remotely via the app and can offer a number of vehicle-based security and convenience features, such as remote locking, speed alert, theft and alarm notification, geo-fencing and status reports. As Audi’s first model range to usher in fully integrated connectivity, the Audi connect portfolio includes a host of online services which offer advanced infotainment, navigation and Car-to-X services which take advantage of the swarm intelligence to service, safety and convenience built into the new A4. Audi connect relies on an embedded sim and offers real-time information and multiple digital functions.
